Campbellites.

  1. A Protestant denomination, otherwise known as the "Disciples of Christ," founded by the Rev. Alexander Campbell (who died in 1866). He came to America in 1809. The Campbellites were also called "New Lights."
  2. The followers of Rev. John McLeod Campbell, a minister of the Church of Scotland, who, when deposed, in 1831, for teaching the universality of the atonement, founded a separate sect.
